Under US tax law, the American Cancer Society is limited in the tools they can deploy in advocating for public policy chance specifically around lobbying and electoral activity. ACS CAN therefore raises money to carry out these activities on behalf of ACS to fulfill our life-saving mission, as such the IRS requires that funding is not deductible on income taxes.
